The First Hooters Neuters is done – time for some laughs!

The first Hooters Neuters was a relative success – I have some lessons learned to make the next one bigger and better!

I was really touched by the old friends and new that came out, even some that aren’t big Hooters fans.  I don’t have the donation number from Hooters yet, but friends did hand me an additional $120 to send in. I am particularly grateful to those I know are on hard times, but reached into their pockets anyway. Also, a special shout out to my former coworkers at the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District – you guys made a valiant showing! The people from SNAP did a great job telling people about their organization, and even brought a couple dogs and cats for conversation starters. Of course, Hooters Girls have big hearts, and we got several adoption applications filled out. That was better than I hoped for! I actually fell for a cute little Chihuahua that we are now looking to foster. Quite a stretch for big dog people, but it has a heart of gold!
Coming up next is the S&N Comedy show, at the La Jolla Comedy Store on Tuesday, March 13. Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8. It’s 21 and up with a $10 cash donation due at the door, which will all go to SNAP.  Local radio DJ’s Lauren O’Brien and Woods from 94.9FM’s The Mikey Show are volunteering to perform that night, so this will be promoted on the radio and should be a sell out, so get there early!

Included with this post is a picture of me & another Chihuahua that is up for adoption, and the Comedy store flyer – share it with friends and see you there!

Over the $1,000 mark!!

I have been extremely touched by all the friends, family, and even some strangers who have helped me get over the $1,000 mark for SNAP. On average, this has covered 37 animals to date!

Using San Diego Animal Controls’ numbers, if we were to guess that this covers 19 dogs and 18 cats, that means we have kept 1.2 million dogs and 7.5 million cats from being born within the next 7 years, meaning other animals in San Diego have a better chance at finding a home and not being euthanized.
In addition to this, posting about this goal has encouraged friends to spay 3 of their animals that were previously unfixed!

I beg the rest of you, I know money is tight, but even $5 bucks a month helps greatly!!
I am looking forward to racking up some big numbers for SNAP starting with the Mission Valley Hooters Neuters event on 2/23, and the La Jolla Comedy Store’s event on 3/13. It’s amazing to see that local dj’s are coming out to support this cause!

Thanks for all your support, 74% left to go!
